80 houses were destroyed in the Thotala fire. More than 200 people were displaced.

According to the Police Media Division, 80 houses were damaged and 220 people were affected by the fire that broke out in the Kajimawatta housing complex, Totalanga, last night (27).
The displaced people are currently staying temporarily at Kelaninadi Viharasthan and Mudoora Uyana Community Hall.
The fire that broke out yesterday (27th) around 08.00 night was brought under control with the help of 12 fire engines and local residents.
However, President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is currently on an official visit to Japan, has instructed the President’s Secretary to provide immediate relief to those displaced by the fire.
The President has also given further instructions to look into the necessary facilities for mothers, women and children who are in great difficulty especially in the face of this situation.
