A man wanted for a number of crimes was arrested by the Mount Lavinia Police yesterday (16) near the Ratmalana Airport.
The interrogation of the suspect revealed that he had broken into the Baddegama SANASA Bank and robbed Rs. 954,094, broken into the Pitigala Mattaka Samurdhi Bank and robbed Rs. He was involved in the theft of Rs. 485,000 and jewelery worth Rs. 900,000.
It is reported that a 35 year old resident of Baddegama has been arrested.
Police stated that it has been revealed that the suspect has been issued an open warrant by the Galle Magistrate’s Court.
The suspect was produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court yesterday (16) and remanded till the 28th.
Mount Lavinia Police are conducting further investigations.
