The Ministry of Technology and Investment Promotion established from today (10) has been assigned a number of institutions, powers and functions that were previously under the Ministry of Defense.
Fifteen institutions have been gazetted under the Ministry of Technology and Investment Promotion.
1. Department of Registration of Persons
2. Department of Immigration and Emigration
3. Telecommunication Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka and its affiliates
4. Information and Communication Technology Agency and its affiliates
5. Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Forum
6. Sri Lanka Telecom and its subsidiaries
7. Colombo Lotus Tower Management Company Pvt
8. Technopark Development Pvt. Ltd.,
9. Information Technology Parks (Jaffna and Mannar)
10. Industrial Technology Institutes,
11. Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology Pvt. Ltd.
12. Sri Lanka Standards Institution,
13. Sri Lanka Institute of Biotechnology Pvt. Ltd.
14. Board of Investment of Sri Lanka
15. Colombo Port City Economic Commission
Meanwhile, a gazette notification has been issued establishing a new Ministry of Women, Children’s Affairs and Social Empowerment.
Fifteen institutions including the National Child Protection Authority, the Samurdhi Development Department and the Social Security Board have been placed under the Ministry.
