His Excellency the President has issued a special gazette notification regarding the adjournment of Parliament with effect from midnight on 12.12.2021 in accordance with the powers vested in him by Article 70 of the Constitution.
Accordingly, the next session of Parliament is scheduled to commence on January 18, 2022 at 10.00 am.
Termination of term refers to the adjournment of Parliament, in which the Speaker is required to continue in office.
Also, the Select Committees should be re-appointed at the commencement of a new session and the Committee on Higher Levels should continue to function even after the end of the term.
