One person was killed and the hotel was severely damaged when an air conditioning gas tank exploded at the Oak-Ray Hotel in Peradeniya, Kandy.
The deceased has been identified as a 26 year old resident of Kandy.
The youth was admitted to the hospital with severe burn injuries at around 01.45 pm and died after being admitted to the hospital.
Police stated that the explosion had taken place during an air conditioning maintenance operation.
Kandy Police are conducting further investigations.
