External Affairs Minister GL Peiris has been appointed Vice President of the Indian Ocean Association.
Addressing the 21st Cabinet Meeting in Dhaka, the Foreign Minister called for a collective action to protect maritime lanes and oceans from environmental disasters.
The Minister also stated that the state policy of the country is to use marine resources sustainably under the concept of a ‘blue green economy’.
