A discussion was seen on social media regarding a land grab in Kollupitiya where a family was dragged on the road.Tuan Adam Saleem, who works as a three-wheeler driver, feeds his 11 children.
He states that a man named Mohammad Siddique Sheikh, a Kollupitiya police officer and a mayor have been charged with forcibly taking over the land owned by this person for about 30 years.
He stated that he had tried to rent the land on two occasions and had obtained it by force due to his disagreement and that he had been imprisoned as a result of a riot in this regard.
Upon his release from prison, he could see only his demolished house, and the land was also forcibly taken over by the Sheikh, who had dragged his children down the street.
We all wonder if the officers who were there to protect the public as well as keep the peace were asleep until 11 small children were dragged into the streets like this.
They had gone to their land with their children scattered on the road and had gone to the container box there and even then these people had come and crushed and destroyed their belongings.
Although the Kollupitiya police have been informed about this four times, no action has been taken so far and even though the perpetrators have been arrested and handed over to the police, no law has been enforced on behalf of this innocent family.
Against this backdrop, where and how will the President’s vision of a ‘One Country, One Law’ be implemented? People will question that.
Finally, it is requested that the relevant authorities take action to bring justice to this family.
