Former Minister Basil Rajapaksa has resigned from his post, recognizing himself as a US citizen as well as a Sri Lankan citizen accused of begging the whole of Sri Lanka.
He made a special statement saying that he did not accept the allegation that foreign reserves had been depleted during his tenure as Finance Minister.
He further stated that there were no foreign reserves in Sri Lanka at the time of taking over the ministry post.
“I do not accept that the pool has dropped to zero. Who said you don’t know? Where is That is wrong. Complete misinformation. There was no such thing as a pool when I came. If I had such reserves I would have done the same. ” He declared.
When questioned by a journalist, he admitted, “People accuse Basil Rajapaksa of ending Rajapaksa rule.”
However, he stated that he was not involved in any public administration and was involved in politics.
