Lankadeepa newspaper has reported an incident where the CID itself started investigation against a former boss of the Criminal Investigation Department regarding an irregularity of Rs.75 lakhs.
Acting DIG in charge of Western Province Northern Crime, Mr. Rohan Premaratne, while working as the Director of Criminal Investigation Department, has started investigations regarding a corruption act by presenting false information to the court and releasing an amount of 75 lakhs to the suspects.
It is reported that more than Rs. 75 lakhs seized during an investigation related to an incident involving the transfer of money to the Undial system has been defrauded in this way.
These investigations are being conducted under the allegations that the goods were released to the relevant suspects by submitting a false report regarding this amount.
