The Urban Development Authority stated that the damage caused to the area around the Galle mouth due to the struggle is about 49 lakh rupees.
The authority stated that they have taken steps to get an assessment report on the damage that has been done to the Galle estuary.
It has been stated in the assessment report prepared by the Urban Development Authority that about one and a half lakh rupees will be spent for the resettlement of the land and for the basic works and about 48 lakh rupees for catching the grass.
Also, the minister in charge of subjects, Mr. Prasanna Ranatunga, has instructed the Urban Development Authority to take necessary legal measures to recover compensation from the activists for the damage caused to the area around Galumuwadora Pitiya.
