Veteran Sri Lankan traditional dancer Dr. Vajira Chithrasena has been awarded the Padma Shri 2020.
The award was presented by the Government of India in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the field of traditional Sri Lankan dance.
The Padma Shri was presented by Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Gopal Bagle and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka.
The Padma Shri award was presented to Dr. Vajira Chithrasena, further strengthening the cultural ties between Sri Lanka and India.
