Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella has instructed the relevant officials to submit a report on the required drugs for the next six months.
Accordingly, the Minister has instructed to calculate and prepare reports on the required drugs for two quarters of three months each, according to the Ministry of Health.
Minister Keheliya Rambukwella has given these instructions during a discussion held at the Ministry of Health regarding the supply of medicines required for the country this year.
However, the Minister of State further pointed out that in the face of this global epidemic, the people should be provided with the necessary medicines without any shortage and the government should take the initiative to do so.
The Minister of Health stated that when importing drugs, medicines should be imported with due regard for the drugs that can be manufactured in the country and for that a proper study should be done on the drugs.
It was also pointed out that despite the large scale production of drugs in the country, people are accustomed to using different brands of drugs and have to import drugs of different brands of the same type.
