It is reported that the Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board stated that almost 13,000 acres of farmland in Wala have been destroyed.
That is due to the prevailing dry weather and lack of water for cultivation.
Chairman of the Agriculture and Agrarian Insurance Board Mr. Madduma Bandara Weerasekera said that a team from Colombo and suburbs will leave for the area today to calculate crop compensation.
