Yesterday (25th) a school girl was killed after being hit by a slow train traveling from Matara towards Galle between Matara Nupe rail gate and Pamburana railway station.
According to the police, the person who died in this accident was a 15-year-old schoolgirl resident of Bentotagewatta, Hitthetiya area.
Yesterday, the deceased girl had gone to a party with some other friends and was walking along the railway line. The girl met with this accident.
The Matara Police have started further investigations regarding the incident and the dead body has been deposited in the Matara Hospital.
