It is reported that two suspects were taken into custody by the Navy in a search operation conducted by the Navy yesterday (12) in the Wannimundalam lagoon area along with a load of gold which they tried to take in a dinghy by sea.
The navy found 8 kg 450 grams of gold in a suspicious dinghy which was sailing along the Vannimundalam lagoon towards the Kalpitiya sea area. The Navy has arrested the four parcels containing gold, which were carefully concealed in the relevant dinghy and tried to be taken illegally.
It is stated that the arrested suspects are 37 and 42 years old residents of Kalpitiya, Mandalkuda area.
