It is reported that a person was arrested yesterday (03) who was digging gems without a license in Brunswick Estate, Maskeliya.
The Maskeliya police have stated that when the suspect was arrested, a stock of equipment used for gem mining was also seized from him.
He is a 36-year-old resident of Maskeliya and is scheduled to be referred to the Hatton Magistrate’s Court on the 19th of this month.
