It is reported that the school was temporarily closed today (20) due to the sudden illness of a group of children who studied in the primary section of a school.
15 children of Ganevatta Hiripitiya Vidyalaya, Kurunegala where more than 250 children study from the first grade to the fifth grade have fallen ill.
While studying in the school, some children have developed a condition of itchy body and they have been admitted to the Ganewatta Regional Hospital. It is said that several children are already receiving treatment.
Accordingly, steps have been taken to clean all the classrooms of the school with disinfectants under the supervision of the Ganewatta Regional Health Medical Officer.
In this regard, the public health inspectors have stated that if such illnesses are detected, a school usually has to be closed for three days.
But the reason for the spread of this disease has not been revealed yet.
