The ten-year-old boy and his six-year-old younger brother had gone to harvest the crops with his father.
There, due to the bad weather conditions, the two children were climbing on a tree that was built on a cone tree next to the paddy field and this child died due to lightning striking the tree and it is reported that the six-year-old child was admitted to Mahiyangana Hospital for treatment due to severe shock.
