A YOUNG MAN AND A YOUNG WOMAN WERE ARRESTED FOR FORGING DOCUMENTS.

It is reported that during the questioning of the woman and the man who stopped a suspicious motor vehicle, many forged documents were found in their possession and they were arrested by the Nuwara Eliya Police along with those forged documents.

According to the Police Media Division, the suspects were arrested yesterday evening (27th) in a raid based on a tip-off that the suspects were coming to Nuwara Eliya by car carrying fake documents.

03 motor vehicle registration certificates, 03 income licenses, 03 insurance certificates, 03 letters stating that the installments have been paid in the name of a finance institution, 03 letters stating that there is no objection regarding the transfer of vehicles, and reports to the police that the number plate has been lost were found in the possession of these suspects. 03 copies of complaints, 03 national identity cards and a temporary driver’s license have been found.

The interrogation of the suspects has revealed that they cheated a person of Peradeniya Police domain of 180,000 rupees by saying that they would prepare a registration book for a three-wheeler.

Later, the related complaint was forwarded to the Peradeniya Police and the arrested suspect is a 27-year-old resident of Nakulogamuwa area and the suspect is a 21-year-old resident of Higurakgoda area.

They are scheduled to be produced in the Nuwara Eliya Magistrate’s Court today (28) and the Nuwara Eliya Police is conducting further investigations.
