AN UNEXPECTED TREAT FROM THE NAVY TO THE PROTESTERS WHO CAME AGAINST THE NAVY.

A group of Tamil politicians and other Tamils who were protesting in front of the Mandative Naval Base in Jaffna demanding the cessation of land surveying were given biscuits and cold drinks by Navy officials yesterday (12).

After some time, the protestors got up from the place and among the people who joined the protest were Kilinochchi District Member of Parliament S. Sreedharan, Member of Tamil National Janata Peramuna Selvathurai Gajendran, former Chairman of Northern Provincial Council CVK Sivachanam and others. Representatives of several organizations were also present.

This group had organized this protest to oppose the information that the people’s land was going to be forcibly acquired for the expansion of the Velusumana Naval Base in Jaffna and that surveyors would come to measure the land.

Although this protest was launched in the middle of the hot sun, the protestors were very tired due to the absence of the surveyors.

Because of this, the navy has received biscuits and cold drinks. After enjoying the treat, the protestors got up from the Navy area and returned amicably.
