Yesterday (21) in the Parliament, Member of Parliament D.V. Chanaka made a special statement against Harak Kata. He said that “there are no leaders in this country who appoint Inspector General of Police as the drug lords want”. Mr. V. Chanaka appeared for Makadure Madush.
Member of Parliament D.V. Chanaka further stated,
“First of all, it is a day to be happy as a country. But we didn’t see it from the opposition side, they are hanging their faces. We wanted to choose a presidential candidate who can overcome the economic crisis. We did that a few months ago. The International Monetary Fund has approved to give us that loan. We should thank the President for that.
Similarly, we should be thankful to MP Shehan Semasinghe. Likewise, we should be thankful at this moment to all the officials including the Governor of the Central Bank, the Secretary of the Ministry of Finance. Currently, the rupee is getting stronger. Dollars are now flowing into Sri Lanka. We can see the results of these in the future.
There have been struggles in the past. There were groups that supported this. There were groups of lawyers. At that time we saw Undial systems. Undial goes forward from one side. On the one hand, Undial’s money goes to the drug business and on the other hand, it supports the struggle. A separate investigation should be done about it. Is there a connection in it?
Because we saw that during Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa’s tenure, drugs stopped in the country. Drug traffickers were arrested every day. It is in relation to starting this that the struggle arises. If you bring drugs to Sri Lanka, you need to pay for it in dollars. You have to pay for cannabis in dollars. But they cannot get dollars through the banking process. They have to go to Undial market to buy those dollars. Then, to go to this Undial market, our people living abroad must also receive money through Undial. The development of these Undials is a part of the struggle itself.
In the end, the leader who stood up for the struggle against the drug lords, who received the biggest accusation in Sri Lanka, appeared in the law. Now we have a problem that even after Undial, the dollars from the tourism industry stopped at one place. This is one of the biggest smuggling in Sri Lanka at this time. Billions of dollars go into drugs. The few dollars that come from our tourism sector, the few dollars that come from foreign workers. The leader who stood for these struggles stands for the drug leaders who were nourished by it. Today they came and said how to appoint the Inspector General of Police. Going from one side and going to court for the leader who gives drugs to Sri Lanka. On the other side, Vadyilla says to appoint the Inspector General of Police.
Now the problem we have is that Harakkata wants to appoint the Inspector General of Sri Lanka. Or that his message is also coming out through these lawyers. So we can see that this is a conspiracy. This struggle is a conspiracy. It contained that some Sri Lankan dollars were exchanged for powder and left Sri Lanka through Undial. We are making a special request to His Excellency the President and the Minister in charge of Police. Tourists are coming to Sri Lanka today. Dollars are coming. But there is a big problem of these dollars going to the banks properly. Therefore, this should be investigated extensively. If this situation is not stopped by appointing another police instead, we will not find a solution to this problem.
If this problem is solved, we can bring the oil without any problem. We can bring the coal. Without a crisis in the country, we will be able to move forward. We believe that there are no more leaders in this country who will appoint the IGP as these drug lords want and we would like to make it clear. Similarly, we request that you do not support government officials to destroy this country. Do not support the opposition.”
