It is reported that the Department of Immigration and Emigration has taken steps to introduce the electronic passport (E-Passport) in Sri Lanka by the end of this year.
Comptroller General of Immigration and Emigration I.S.H.J. Ilukpitiya said the initial programs and procurement procedures for the introduction of the e-passport have also been completed.
With the introduction of the new passport, the Sri Lankan passport will become one of the most recognized passports among other countries.
