It is reported that State Security Minister Pramitha Bandara Thennakone has stated that it has been decided to amend the existing laws for the use of firearms for crop protection purposes and to revise the amount of cultivation land to 5 acres for the issuance of those licenses.
The minister has further mentioned that it was decided to issue these firearms licenses as a matter of urgency as crops are destroyed by various wild animals within a year.
