It is reported that new laws have been prepared so that severe punishment can be imposed on those who spread nude photos and videos on social media after the end of their love relationships.
Accordingly, a person who is caught for such an offense for the first time can be punished with imprisonment not exceeding five years or a fine not exceeding five lakh rupees. Any person who commits such an offense for the second time or repeatedly shall be liable to double the relevant punishment or fine or to double both the punishment and the fine.
Minister of Public Security, Tiran Alas, has presented the cabinet paper related to the bill containing these new laws, and it has also received cabinet approval.
New laws have been prepared with the aim of preventing private and nude photos and videos taken by people and women of various ranks during romantic relationships, and with the intention of harassing them after the relationship has ended, so that other people can see them through social media.
