LABOR MINISTRY OFFICIALS HIT THE STREETS.

Ensuring the safety of law enforcement officers who protect people’s rights
It is reported that a group of government officials from the Ministry of Labor took to the highway yesterday (27) to protest.

The Ministry of Labour, the Department of Labor and other government officials including the Labor and Labor Department, insisting on providing the necessary environment to exercise the powers given to the government officials to independently implement the rules and regulations adopted by the legislature and emphasizing that the officials who implement the laws should be protected as mentioned in the Acts. Yesterday, a protest was held in front of the Foreign Employment Ministry.

In 2018, six people died after falling into a chemical waste tank in a rubber factory in Horana area. This protest has been made in consideration of the risk to the safety of the officers who acted independently in dealing with the laws passed by the Parliament regarding this incident.

The protestors have also emphasized that whenever the laws enacted by the Parliament are used to protect the rights of the people, the officers should be protected as mentioned in those laws.

The protestors have further emphasized that if this is not the case, the government officials will be reluctant to implement the decrees, and if such a situation arises, there will be a risk of slowing down the implementation of government policies.
