It is reported that Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Hambantota District Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa said while participating in the rally to establish the Tangalle Branch Society that whoever belongs to the old or modern generation of the country should respect the existing culture of the country.
Namal Rajapakse, who gave further comments,
It is the parents’ responsibility to leave a child who respects the culture to the society. We should create children to suit any culture be it Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim or Burgher. That is our duty and responsibility as parents. A Muslim child should not be ashamed to dress in accordance with Muslim culture, a Tamil youth should not be ashamed to wear a vetti, or a Sinhalese youth should not be ashamed to wear a saree. A society that respects culture and religion can achieve benefits related to the country’s economic growth.
