It is reported that a Navy soldier has lost his life after drowning during a training duty.
The police said that the accident took place on the beach in Pannamgoda area of Hikkaduwa police domain yesterday (15th) morning.
It is said that one of the naval soldiers who were on training duty drowned and was admitted to the Karapitiya hospital in a critical condition, where he died while receiving treatment.
The deceased was a 33-year-old youth from Dodanduwa, Katuwana.
The Hikkaduwa Police is conducting further investigations on this matter.
