It is reported that information has been revealed about a racket that is being made by making threatening calls to businessmen claiming to be from the consumer authority.
Attorney Shanta Niriella, chairman of the Consumer Affairs Authority, says that many complaints have been received regarding such incidents.
It has further been revealed that through these fake phone calls, it is said that there are problems with the goods and legal action is to be taken in this regard.
It is said that the traffickers making the relevant calls have threatened the businessmen and manufacturers for money not to take such legal action stating that they are high officials of the Consumer Affairs Authority.
Due to this, the consumer affairs authority requests businessmen and manufacturers to inform the nearest police station or the said authority if they receive such a call.
Mr. Shanta Niriella, the chairman of the said authority, has further stated that information about such calls can be reported to the Consumer Authority’s numbers 1977, 0112 445 897, 0771 088 922.
