It is reported that the Athurugiri police have arrested an army member and a woman who allegedly assaulted a police constable of the criminal investigation department of the Athurugiri police who went to a house in Keremulla area of Homagama Panagoda to hand over a summons.
The attack took place when the concerned officer went to the house to hand over a summons issued by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court regarding a case of the Child Protection Authority and the two attackers were drinking alcohol, the police said.
The police said that when the police officer was asked to hand over the relevant summons, he abused the police officer with harsh words and assaulted the officer’s private area.
