Government sources have reported that the presidential election will be held early next year.
Accordingly, it is stated that President Ranil Wickramasinghe has informed the Election Commission to calculate how much money is required to hold the presidential election and inform him immediately.
According to reports, the President, who called the Election Commission’s Chairman Mr. RML Ratnayake and the officials of the Commission to the Presidential Secretariat Office, said that the funds spent on the Presidential Election should be included in the upcoming budget document and the money should be allocated.
It is reported that the President has announced to send a report to the Ministry of Finance regarding the financial allocations for the presidential election and has also informed the Election Commission to discuss the financial allocations with the Ministry of Finance.
