SAKWITHI’S LAWYERS MAKE A REQUEST TO THE COLOMBO HIGH COURT

In 2015, the Attorney General filed a case against Sakwithi Ranasinghe under three charges including violation of the Finance Act 1978 by running a financial institution called Construction House Private Limited between 2006 and 2008.

This case was called before the Colombo High Court Judge Namal Balalle yesterday (14) and it is reported that Sakwithi Ranasinghe’s lawyers have raised a preliminary objection and requested the Colombo High Court to dismiss the case assigned by the Attorney General against Sakwithi Ranasinghe and his wife.

Accordingly, Sakwithi Ranasinghe’s lawyers have stated before the High Court that the case can be filed in the Magistrate’s Court and that the Attorney General is not able to continue the case.
