SUPREME COURT JUDGMENT ON THE ONLINE BILL.

It is reported that the Supreme Court has informed the Parliament that certain sections of the challenged Bill on Security of Online Systems must be passed by a special majority in the Parliament.

Deputy Speaker Mr. Ajith Rajapaksa informed the Parliament of the decision of the Supreme Court on this bill today (07).

However, the Supreme Court has informed that this Act can be passed by a simple majority of the Parliament if it is amended at the time of the Committee subject to the proposed amendments of the Supreme Court decision regarding several clauses.

Subject to the above facts, the Supreme Court has informed that the Bill or any of its provisions are not inconsistent with the Constitution.
