It is reported that the Pallekele police said that a detainee who was held at the Pallekele open-air prison camp, while trying to escape, got caught in the flood of the Mahaweli river and went missing.
The prison headquarters has confirmed that a 36-year-old inmate who was employed in the cultivation department of the prison camp has gone missing.
The police further revealed that the detainee is a resident of Seawally Lane area in Borella.
