It is reported that a grandson was arrested for cutting the grandmother’s throat with a knife and taking the body to a forest.
This grandmother used to live in the house where the suspect resides and the deceased grandmother returned home on the 25th after being in the hospital a few days ago. She was worried that her mother was spending money on her treatment and after attending a function she came home after drinking alcohol. It is said that she was beaten to death with a knife and then the grandmother’s body was dragged to a nearby forest.
The suspect is a 24-year-old man and the deceased woman is Mrs. Lilawathi Wickramasinghe, who resided in Baduraliya, Hadigalla Colony, Bolluntha area.
The sharp weapon used by the suspect in the murder has been found by the police and it is said that the Baduraliya police will carry out further investigations into the incident.
