It is reported that the National Movement of Health Professionals has said that 72 health trade unions will go on strike today (01) in protest against the non-solution of their demands.
Recently, they engaged in various trade union actions, demanding that the DAT allowance for doctors be increased by 35,000 rupees.
The National Movement of Health Professionals says that although the authorities have agreed to discuss their demands and reach solutions, they have not yet received solutions.
Due to this, the convenor of the movement Mr. Ravi Kumudesh has said that the health workers will be on strike from 6.30 am today.
However, its president Mr. Ravindra Kahadawarachchi has said that the All Ceylon Nurses Association will not join the strike.
Meanwhile, Reverend Tampitiya Sugathananda Thero, General Secretary of the Integrated Health Services Union, has said that today’s strike is not a strike for a just cause.
