It is reported that people in many areas of Hambantota district are suffering due to the emergency situation.
Hambantota District Secretary Priyantha Sumanasekara said that 891 people from 253 families have been affected by the sudden disaster.
The district secretary has further said that arrangements have been made to provide immediate relief to the people affected by the disaster.
The people of Ellagala, Medawelana, Senapura, Rabarwatta, Gemunupura and Yodha Kandiya Grama Seva Domains of Tissamaharama Divisional Secretariat are suffering due to the disaster situation.
Also, the people of Mahagajadura and Ranmuduwewa Grama Seva Vasam of Suriyawewa Divisional Secretariat Division and Liangastota and Bolana South of Ambalantota Divisional Secretariat Division are affected by the disaster.
Meanwhile, in Hambantota Divisional Secretariat Division, Parhiyapura, Hambantota West,
People are affected in Hambantota East, Yahangala East, Thammannawa, Samodagama and Gonnoruwa areas.
Meanwhile, due to the bursting of a lake in Sevanagala Divisional Secretariat Division, several houses in Mahagalwewa Village Officer’s Domain of Suriyawewa Divisional Secretariat Division are currently being reported.
