In view of the current situation in the country, the Galle Assistant District Secretary had taken steps to conduct a comprehensive investigation of registered NGOs in the Galle district and the NGOs have taken further action to cancel the registration of organizations that have not been given action plans and do not participate in the calls of the District Secretariat. Galle Assistant District Secretary has stated that it has been decided to inform the National Secretariat.
It is reported that Public Security Minister Tiran Alas has decided that unregistered non-governmental organizations are not allowed to work in the country in view of such problematic situations.
