According to the report, a police constable attached to the Hambegamuwa Police has been remanded in connection with an incident where he allegedly molested his girlfriend by handcuffing her.
It is said that when the girl in question went to see Samanala Lake with her boyfriend, the police constable came to his place and scared him, and put the young man on the motorcycle and molested the girl.
A person who was nearby at the time of this incident informed the police about it and accordingly the Samanala Lake Police arrested the suspect constable on the same day.
The arrested police constable has been ordered to be remanded until the 20th after being presented to the Balangoda Magistrate’s Court and the police have stated that the constable has been suspended and an investigation is underway against him.
The 18-year-old girl in question faced this incident when she had come to Samanalawewa Ishmatta with her boyfriend on the 8th.
It has been revealed that the suspect police constable is a resident of Welioya area.
