FIVE SUSPECTS NABBED WITH FOREIGN CURRENCY

Five persons have been arrested by the Customs at the Katunayake International Airport for attempting to smuggle foreign currency into Dubai.
Accordingly, it is reported that the value of the foreign currency seized is around Rs. 42 million.
The suspects are said to be residents of the Colombo area.
During the search of the luggage due to their suspicious behavior, a stock of foreign currency was found hidden in it.
Among the foreign currencies were US $ 22,300, EUR 63,500, Saudi riyals 292,000, pounds 8,725 and dirhams 75,000.
A special investigation is currently underway into the suspects.
