GAS SHIP SUSPENDED

The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has instructed the company to suspend the landing of gas on the ship imported by Litro.

Several groups including the Consumer Affairs Authority and the Petroleum Corporation have recently questioned the quality of the 3,700 metric tons of gas imported to Sri Lanka.

Inquiries revealed that the gases contained propane and butane, but that the chemical “ethyl macaptan” was not up to standard.

The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) said that a special technical committee met yesterday (14) to discuss the situation and reached its conclusion this morning (15).
