The Department of Meteorology announced that today (04) there may be rain from time to time in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North Western provinces and in the districts of Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara.
It is also stated in the announcement that heavy rains of more than 50 mm may occur in some places in Sabaragamuwa province and Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Kalutara districts, while in other areas, rain or thundershowers will occur at several places in the evening or at night.
Also, strong winds of about 50 km/h may occur from time to time in the western slopes of the central mountains.
In the meantime, the Department of Meteorology further requests the people to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
We also remind people living in areas where flood and landslide red alerts have been issued under this act to be very vigilant.
