The Department of Meteorology has announced that rain may occur from time to time in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces and Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts today (05).
In the meantime, the department states that heavy rains exceeding 100 mm will occur in some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts and several rains may also occur in the Northern Province.
The Department of Meteorology also announces that there is a possibility of scattered rain or thundershowers in the rest of the island today in the evening or during the night.
Also, there is a possibility of strong wind conditions of about 50 km per hour from time to time in the central mountains.
The Department of Meteorology has further requested the people to take necessary measures to reduce the dangers caused by the temporary strong winds and lightning that may accompany the thunderstorms.
