Three defendants, including former minister Johnston Fernando, have been indicted before the Colombo High Court today (11).
It is on the charge of losing more than 59 lakhs by removing a group of Sathosa employees from their duties and engaging in political activities in 2010 when he was the Trade Minister.
The indictment was handed over when the case was called before Colombo High Court Judge Amal Ranaraja.
In addition to the former minister, the former president of Sathosa Institute, Eraj Fernando, and one of its former directors, Mohammad Zakir, have been indicted.
The lawyers of the defendants informed the court that they are expected to submit preliminary objections.
The High Court Judge has ordered to release one person on a cash bail of 50,000 rupees and two body bails of 5 lakhs each.
And the High Court has ordered to impose a foreign travel ban on these three.
