Part of the Southern Expressway is under water.

It is reported that the Southern Expressway has also been affected due to the adverse weather conditions currently prevailing in the country.
Along with the ongoing heavy rains, the Welipanna entrance of the Southern Expressway has been flooded and therefore traffic has been disrupted for small traffic.
It is reported that the road is flooded at two places near the Welipanna entrance and therefore the highway maintenance unit is asking people to use alternative access routes.
Accordingly, due to the current situation, drivers wishing to travel towards Colombo or Galle on the Southern Expressway may use the Kurundugahahetham or Dodangoda entrances for that purpose.
