Yesterday was the worst day in decades as a result of mass violence when several senior police officers in the Western Province went to fulfill their political ambitions or to fulfill the IGP’s dream.
It is reported that Deshabandu Tennakoon had made a false statement to the IGP while the SSP in charge of the Colombo Central area as well as the IGP had taken control of the incident prior to the incident yesterday.
It is reported that even the name of MP Sanath Nishantha had been read at the time of the incident and it is reported that Mr. Tennakoon had promised the IGP that he would accept any wrongdoing.
It is reported that various levels of protests are being held in various parts of Sri Lanka today over these incidents. But there are no reports of violent protests.
