He says that many people today have lost the desire to have a child.
The lowest number of new births was recorded in 2020 at 1861.
According to a statement issued by the Bureau of Statistics, there has been a decline in the number of new births in the country over the past 12 years.
Italy’s current population is 59.3 million, with 404,892 new births last year.
This is a decrease of 15,192 compared to 2019 and the number of deaths reported in 2020 is 746,146.
