POWER OUTAGES IN SEVERAL AREAS

There have been power outages in several parts of the island.
The 3rd generator of the Norochcholai power plant, which was recently repaired, became inoperable again this afternoon (01).
The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) said that the machine had malfunctioned due to a technical fault and the national grid had lost 270 megawatts.
However, the Public Utilities Commission stated that there was no need for a power cut due to the reactivation of the Norochcholai generator.
