President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa are engaged in religious observances at the historic Kirivehera Shrine in Kataragama to receive blessings for the New Year.
According to the Presidential Media Unit, the President and the Prime Minister also participated in the Kapruk Pooja for the Kirivehera Chaitya Rajayana and the Sick and Medicine Pooja.
The Chief Incumbent of the Kirivehera Rajamaha Viharaya in Kataragama Ven. Kobawaka Dhamminda Thero conducted the religious rites at the Pancha Sheela.
Florists presented flowers to the President at the Kataragama Sacred Area and the President engaged in a discussion with the people present.
