The Sapugaskanda oil refinery will be closed from tomorrow (15), according to the Petroleum Trade Unions.
The convener of the Petroleum Trade Union Confederation Ananda Palitha stated that this situation has arisen due to the lack of crude oil required for refining activities.
He said the ship had not arrived since October 5 and that kerosene production would be halted and the ration or queue system might have to be refueled in the near future.
He was speaking at a media briefing in Colombo today (14).
