The Department of Meteorology has announced that a slight increase in rainfall is expected in the southwestern part of the island today (30) and in the next few days.
Meanwhile, the department has also announced that there may be occasional rains in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.
The department further mentions that some rain is reported in the North-West Province as well.
The announcement also states that there may be rain or thundershowers at several places in Uva province and Ampara and Batticaloa districts in the evening or at night.
Meanwhile, in the western slopes of the central mountains, in the northern, central and southern provinces and in the Trincomalee district, strong winds of around 50 kilometers per hour may occur from time to time, according to the Meteorological Department.
The department further urges the public to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers that may occur due to temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur especially with thunderstorms.
